My IMT, My India: Alumni Meets

Pearls of Wisdom are rare. IMT Ghaziabad is an expert at recognizing these pearls, getting them to shine and lead the way. The Alumni Meets – yes, there are two of them happening on the same day are titled I, India and Innovation and Spandan. At these events, alumni will discuss the very contemporary topic of the ‘I’ in India.

Does the ‘I’ in India stand for Innovation or does it stand for Inclusiveness? Or, better still, does it stand for Innovative, Inclusive and Infinitely wise new India? To discuss the way forward for industry, business and India, the thinkers and the action-takers of the IMT Alumni will meet beginning with a panel discussion - Pearls of Wisdom. During this event, they will discuss the very profound yet contemporary issues related to the country.

Themed ‘I, India and Innovation,’ this discussion is to be held on 18 March, 2012 at the IMT Ghaziabad campus. "An Alumni meet provides an opportunity to the institute to acknowledge the contributions and achievements of its alumni,” says Mr. Rajeev Karwal, CEO, Founder, Milagrow Business & Knowledge Solutions. “The Alumni Relationship Committee (PGDM Executive), the committee that organizes alumni meets always does a great job,” he adds, looking forward to I, India and Innovation and Spandan – 2012 – a combine meet for the PGDM Executive and Part Time Alumni.

The meet, to be held at Kapil Mohan room, IMT Ghaziabad, will begin with lighting the lamp of wisdom and an ALCOM Chair address. Mr. B N S Ratnakar, GM, Delhi Zone at the Central Bank of India will take over and talk about making a difference in India. Ms. Jayatika Dave, HR Head, India, Ingersoll Rand will follow him, and after an introduction to the panellists, discussions will last from 3.30 to 5 pm, and ending with high tea.

India possesses talent. It is the mindset and the direction that our country lacks. For it is very easy for Indians to lose focus. Strong in the left brain activity, Indians possess talents like frugal engineering, execution and adapting to processes among various other left brain related activities. However, when it comes to innovation, which is the product of right and left brain thinking, India lags behind. Because the people of this country want to live a risk free life. Change, innovation, creation, etc needs a lot more than commitment. It needs challenges, disruption of the existing, to create a need where nothing existed – like an Apple, or a Google.

Now is the time to lead the change of tomorrow and IMT Ghaziabad’s alumni are doing it with I, India and Innovation and Spandan – 2012. They have the conviction and the skills to do it – right now.
