Basic Management Programme for the Executives of National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited

Two two weeks in-company Basic Management programmes for the executives of NHPC were held during 15-25 February 2010 and 8-18 March 2010 at IMT Ghaziabad on residential basis. 24 Week Certificate Programme in Business Management for Defense Personnel

The Directorate –General of Resettlement (DGR), Ministry of Defense , Government of India in one of the schemes have offered to serving / retired officers a 24 week course in Business management to hone their skills and get employment in the corporate world. Accordingly, IMT has been selected for impart 24 week Certificate Programme in Business Management to 12 officials from defense services which started the first such programme from 18 January 2010 at IMT Campus, Ghaziabad and will conclude on 3 July 2010. This programme is developed for Officers to enhance their qualifications and to equip them for suitable employment in the corporate world. The programme aims at

MDP entitled Business Intelligence for Competitive Advantage was held during 8-9 December 2009 at IMT, Ghaziabad on residential basis with the objectives to familiarize the participants with handling large data bases to extract meaningful information about business; to develop skills in using data for creating viable business strategies; to acquaint the participants with the concept of data management and data analysis techniques; to introduce Business Intelligence solutions & Data Mining Analysis Tools and techniques and to encourage and help participants to perform hands-on analysis on their own data and arrive at complete solutions.

Second incompany programme on Project Management for ONGC Executives was held during 9-13 November 2009 at IMT Campus on residential basis for middle and senior level executives of ONGC. A group of 24 executives working in area of planning, projects, finance, marketing, production and maintenance attended the course.

One Year Certificate course for Domino Pizza Officers

Second One year certificate course in Business Management for Domino Pizza started from 10 August 2009 with the commencement of five day programme on residential basis at IMT Campus. In this batch 18 participants enrolled for the certificate course.

The programme will be of one year in duration and as per following format:

12 months in four modules (Each module consists of 3 months)
5 days on-campus (residential stay) at the begining of each module.
1 day teaching on Campus on alternate weeks on Non-residential basis (i.e. 6 days in each module) which will include quizzes and tests also.

Two Management Development Programme on Network Management were conducted during 2009 and 2010 between 15 May – 8 June at IMT Campus in association with Nettech Private Ltd, Kolkata which was attended by 106 participants in 2009 and 128 participants in 2010. The participants were given exposure to live demonstration of Basic Networking and Routing. Network Security was also covered.

Evolving Managers into Leader – A Competency based Approach

One more MDP entitled Evolving Managers into Leader – A Competency based Approach was conducted during 16-18 April 2009 on residential basis at IMT, Ghaziabad. Imperia General Management Programme for Executives (GMYE – NIIT) 2009-10

The GMYE – NIIT program of one year duration was held successfully during 2009-2010 which commenced on 10 April 2009 and will conclude in May 2010. The program was delivered through classes held at NIIT Imperia centres for Advanced Learning. In addition to two intense on campus modules, each of Three day duration will be conducted at IMT Ghaziabad campus during this period.

The GMYE program consisted of instructions through the NIIT Online Learning System and On-Campus Module. Spread over 1 year, it covered 15 courses. The courses offered were meant to impart basic management skills and a holistic perspective to the participants and are designed to familiarize the participants with the latest tools and techniques in various facets of management. The GMPE – NIIT program of one year duration was held successfully during 2008-09 which commenced on 13 February 2008 and concluded on 28 February 2009. A two day residential programme was conducted during 29 February – 1 March 2008 at IMT Ghaziabad which was directed by Dr. Omkumar Krishnan and Dr. V.J. MDP on Finance For Non-Finance Executives

A two days open Management Development Programme on “Finance for Non Finance Executives” was held during January 17-18, 2008 at IMT Ghaziabad on residential basis . The programme specially designed for professionals working in functional areas like Marketing, HR, Operations and IT etc. was attended by participants belonging to organisations like Siemens Ltd., Claas India Ltd.; Hamdard (w) Laboratories. The objectives of the programme are: to appreciate the conceptual background of financial management; to understand the financial impact of decisions taken by the executives in different discipline; to develop financial policy in your area of responsibility; to develop guidelines to measure success in financial terms; to appreciate the requirements of the provider of finance and to improve the knowledge of financial terms to interact with the managers of other competing firms.

Management Development Programme on Communication Skills for BPCL

To target for acquisition of core communication skills required in business communication in presentations, meetings and official interactions, the above in-company programme was held for BPCL Executives during 15-16 January 2008 at BPCL, Noida with the objectives to Understanding the process of Communication: Listening Skills; Non-Verbal communication; Interpersonal communication and influencing people; Giving and receiving feedback and Presentation skills. The topics covered are: Understanding the process: Verbal and non-verbal communication; Effective Speaking: Presentations, Impromptu/meetings/discussions; Interpersonal communication/influencing people Psychological exercises; Listening for feelings and ideas; giving and receiving feedback; Impromptu Speaking by participants with feedback Practical Exercises. The pedagogy in the programme included Dialogue Analysis, Incident Analysis, Role Plays, Assigned Presentations, Impromptu Presentations and Psychological Exercises. The programme was attended by 20 executives of BPCL.

One Year Certificate course for Domino Pizza Officers

One year certificate course in Business Management for Domino Pizza started from 14 January 2008 with the commencement of three day programme on residential basis at IMT Campus during 14-16 January 2008. In this batch 16 participants enrolled for the certificate course.

The programme will be of one year in duration and as per following format:

  • 12 months in four modules (Each module consists of 3 months)
  • 5 days on-campus (residential stay) at the begining of each module.
  • 1 day teaching on Campus on alternate weeks on Non-residential basis (i.e. 6 days in each module) which will include quizzes and tests also.

The programme is directed by Prof. Vimi Jham and Prof. Omkumar Krishnan.

MANAGEMENT OF PERSONNEL - Vertical Interaction Course for Senior IPS Officers

This prestigious training programme has been awarded by Bureau of Police Research & Development, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and IMT conducted this programme for the second time.

The programme was attended by IPS Officers of the rank of SP, Sr. SP, AIG,DIG, IG and above.

The sessions were conducted by senior faculty members of the Institute who have deep knowledge and wide experience in these areas and in designing and conducting such executive training programmes.

Managerial Effectiveness and Team Building Programme for Officers and staff of IMT

A series of two half-day programmes were held at IMT Campus for the officers and staff of IMT during 17-18 December 2007 and 24-25 January 2008 on the above topics with the objective to enable staff/officers enhance their personal, interpersonal, and group effectiveness. Specifically, the programme was designed to help participants in Understanding the importance and process of working together; developing a good insight into the behavioural dynamics of self and others and sharpening skills to work well as members of team and also as leaders. The contents of the programme covered Understanding the concept of “Self”; Identification of, and ways to, work through personal/organizational obstacles; Team building process; Assertiveness; Trust building; Building effective teams; Building a team culture and Organizational success through personal effectiveness and teamwork.

The sessions were conducted by Prof. B.D. Singh, Associate Dean _MDP&C and Dr. Amitabh Kodwani, Professor.

Management Effectiveness for BPCL

A two day residential In-company MDP on Management Effectiveness for BPCL was held at IMT, Ghaziabad during 28-29 January 2008 with the objectives to targeted for increasing managerial effectiveness through Self Exploration & Mirroring and facilitating the participants in: Realizing the importance of self awareness in interpersonal relationships, behavior and its impact on interpersonal relationships; Enhancing emotional competence; Team building and enhancing managerial effectiveness; Time management; Developing strategies for improving personal and role effectiveness and Work Life balance.

Management Development Programme entitled Business Intelligence for Competitive Advantage was held during 17-18 December 2007 at IMT, Ghaziabad on residential basis with the objectives To familiarize the participants with handling large data bases to extract meaningful information about business; to develop skills in using data for creating viable business strategies; to acquaint the participants with the concept of data management and data analysis techniques; to introduce Business Intelligence solutions & Data Mining Analysis Tools and techniques and to encourage and help participants to perform hands-on analysis on their own data and arrive at complete solutions.

The programme was attended by senior and middle level executives from organizations such as Axis Bank Ltd.; Dabur India Limited; HCL Infosystems Ltd.; HSBC and Siemens Ltd. The sessions were conducted by eminent resource persons from IMT and industry.

Effective Communication and Presentation Skills

The above programme was held during 17-19 December 2007 at IMT, Ghaziabad with the objective to upgrade the participants to feel more confident in their ability to communicate in writing; feel more confident in their ability to communicate verbally and non-verbally; design and communicate effective formal and informal messages; make effective presentations and practice better listening.

The pedagogy in the course, conducted in a workshop format with interactive sessions, focused chiefly on discussions and practical sessions (including video feedback).

An residential open management development programme on Supply Chain Management was conducted during 19-21 November 2007 at IMT, Ghaziabad. The objective of the programme aim to (1) apprise the participants of business scope and processes of Supply Chain Management, (2) develop an approach to address key issues related to customer-centric supply chains, (3) highlight how supply chain can make significant contribution to business result, (4) provide an insight as to how to cope up with uncertainties in supply chains, (5) demonstrate how leading companies go through customer-supply alliances and (6) illustrate the key role of supply chain in re-engineering the organization.

The 23 participants to this programme were drawn from organizations like Controls and Switchgear Co. Ltd.; Dabur Pharma Limited; Hazira LNG Pvt. Ltd; Maruti Udygo Ltd.; Moser Baer Photo Voltaic Ltd.; NEPA Limited; National Aluminium Co.
